Shipping large prints?

I'm just curious for those of you who order canvas prints from online companies. When these are framed, how are they shipping to you? Are shipping cost higher at that point?

Check with sponsors pixel2canvas (link below). They print up to 30x40.
As I read their site, they ship FedEx for flat rate $19 to the US.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

Is that in a frame? You know I'll go check, thank you for the heads up.

Shippers do charge both for weight and large sizes. Most lab websites have info on this, and shipping charges are determined before you finalize the order. You should be able to put canvas in your cart, plug in your info, and it'll tell you what shipping is going to be. Then you can just delete the order and empty the cart.

There can be other charges too. Some places insist on insurance for very big prints and/or frames with glass. Some places charge more for glass. I run into different shipping policies at different labs.

I do believe most photo labs who offer canvas, frame the canvas print.

I'd like to know how many "whoops's" take place with these odd size packages

most canvas prints are sold as "gallery wraps" where they are stretched over a back frame. There are several thicknesses available. The photo then become "hangable" without an additional frame. The "sides" of the wrap are in a color (like black) or part of the photo (which required a crop slightly larger than the print size. If they do get a frame, it is often a simple, thin one. Lots of options.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.
