Newbie looking for the "What not to do" in photography

13 years 3 months ago #20686 by Number 7
Pretty productive weekend, I think I have watched every video in the tips section of this forum. I wanted to see what things you guys recommended for a newbie NOT to do in photography? Any golden rules you want to share with me please.

Thanks!

Rob

Don't NOT try things.
Your are right to ask. Learn from other mistakes. You'll never live long enough to make them all yourself. And don't be afraid to ask questions.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

As pointed out, try things and experiment with taking photos. I would say learn to not shoot photos just from standing only.

"Not to limit" would be a better way of saying, rather than "what not to do"

Try not to cut off people at their limbs.

Don't leave the camera on auto (which from your previous posts hopefully you won't). Ditto to not being afraid to make mistakes.

Do not "not" break the rules, you will hear things like the rule of thirds etc, doesnt mean you have to adhere to those, I always say rules are there to be broken, and its much more fun, all the tips you see and recieve are for examples and reference only.

:agree: , rules are made to be broken. Although, I do believe one should learn the rule of thirds first and understand it....then break it. :nunu:

Don't get caught up with any sort of rules, get out there and use your camera, experiment with it

in other words practice, practice, practice- it's what gets you the experience to become good at the craft of photography

Remember to engage brain before putting mouth in gear
