Let's talk about lenses and which you prefer as favorite

So it's another lens thread. Yesterday I signed up here and noticed there was a favorite lens thread from long ago. I'm new here and decided to start me own thread.

What is your preferred lens and why?

I'm a Canon guy and mine has been the 70-200mm f/2.8 simply because of the focal range it overs and how the picture looks from 70 to 200mm. However I recently picked up a 50mm and have to say this lens is a blast!

I have a 70-300 IS for most wildlife shots but a bought a 50mm f/1.8 last Spring and you are right, it is a blast. Each lens to it own strengths, I say.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

I don't have one specific favorite. As they all have their own purpose.
I love my Sigma 105mm macro because of the crisp photos it takes
However I like the 50-500 because I can get alot closer. It's a big upgrade from the 70-300 I had.
I like my 18-135, but overall that can be upgraded. However I am sticking with it, because I don't have the money to upgrade and it's not broken. It does work just fine, I just know it's not the best quality lens.

So true, 50mm is the granddaddy of lenses, so I've been told

For a long time my favorite was my canon 85mm but I recently got a Sigma 50mm and it pretty much lives on my camera.

I'm in complete agreement with you. Hands down my favorite lens is my 70-200 2.8.

Sigma 50 1.4

Sure I have the 24-70 and 70-200 2.8 VRII but I just use the 50mm 90% of the time (because I'm lazy?).

My favorite is my 300mm f 4 but the 80-200 f 2.8 is a close second. Both capture action well andwork for what i shoot the most.

Taken with the 300 f 4 at 1/250th sec. on Nikon D90 body
