Question about Nikon vs Canon (colors)

13 years 2 months ago #22467 by Gammill
I wish I had on of my friends photos. A buddy and I went shooting some landscape photos yesterday. At the end of the day we were comparing photos and I want to say mine had more jump out at you colors than the photos taken with my friends Canon 7D? Now granted he had a totally different lens on his also, but we both shot in the same light conditions.

Do Nikon's create better color in photos?

I believe you need to compare side-by-side images using the same settings and equivalent lenses. The camera model can also have a big impact. Most "reviews" I have seen rate them very close to the point of "leap-frogging" as models are introduced. If you are looking at prints, the same processor and/or printers is needed.
We have members using both in our camera clubs and both produce stunning colors.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

Depends on if you were shooting raw or jpeg as well.

Did you both use the same "in camera" settings as far as sharpness, saturation & contrast ? I'd be willing to bet that if you went into each cameras menu settings, you would find differences that would account for the discrepancies.

Nikon saturates more, even with the same jpeg settings as Canons.

Get a color checker passport or something and you can match the colours from both. It's all down to the processing.
