Left or Right Eye

I'm not new to photography, I'm about average. I was wondering is it better to shoot with your right eye or left eye? Does it really matter?

Which one do you use when looking through the viewfinder?

I think it's a matter of preference. As long as it's comfortable and you can frame well!

Good question. I'm curious as to what most people use. I, myself use my right eye. Catti1era, since you asked the question. What eye do you use?

I use my left eye to view through the view finder.

Does anyone keep both eyes open or close the other eye when shooting?

I use left and close right.
My eye dr told me to take pictures with both eyes open. I tried once and didn't like it.

I keep both my eyes open usually.

When I had my point and shoot I used both eyes. Now with my DSLR I only use one eye.

I use my left eye and close my right. I am right handed and when target shooting, use my right eye. I think the camera feels more natural that way. :goodpost:

I use the right eye in the viewfinder and generally keep the other eye on the rest of the ice behind where I am shooting so that I don't miss something good

I'm left handed and do everything left- handed, except I use my right eye on the camera. I believe there have been studie done about the "dominant eye" and I think significantly more people are right-eye dominant. However, I agree with the other posts here, it's a matter of personal comfort and preference.

Just so long as you get your camera the right way 'round you're golden. ;)
