Recently on a week long cruise I used 4-8GB cards and a 32GB as a secondary backup to the laptop. I shot for 7 days with lots of room on each card.

I bring every card I have 2gb or bigger, which ends up being a dozen or so cards and close to 100 gb. Even shooting raw I'll rarely need more than 16gb in a week, but why not pack the extra cards. They barely take up any space, and then if I luck into a photogenic situation worth shooting thousands and thousands of photos I don't have to run to the drug store for new memory cards. One of these days I'm going to start shooting video too. It could be on vacation.

If I remember right I have like 16 gigs in my bag. Even when I am traveling I am selective on what I shoot.
