Nice lens Dave, have fun with it!

Ninja, just compared the Vignette, sharpness, and CA characteristics between the two at slrgear.com. Comparing results between 50mm lenses is usually just splitting hairs, but the results between these were surprising...

The Sigma is a tad sharper in the center at all aperatures, and 1 full unit (blur unit) sharper in the center at f1.4

However, the Nikon is a clear winner in the vignetting and edge to edge sharpness department.

Nikon: www.slrgear.com/reviews/showproduct.php/product/1231/cat/all
Sigma: www.slrgear.com/reviews/showproduct.php/product/1202/cat/all

Sigma's 50 probably produces warmer colors than Nikon's. Sigmas usually do.

And yes, samples please. ;) :toetap:

Congratulations Dave ... Hope you really enjoy the lens. I think that every photographer should have a similar lens in their kit.

Thanks everyone. I'm embarrassed to say that I've not taken a single photo with it yet, I have been soooo busy! Wife and I are remodeling the house and it's been a major timing issue.
