About FB charging business for fans to see their posts - FB has proprietary algorithms that control the news feeds. What shows up in your news feed is supposed to be tailored to your activity. If you interact with a business more, that business' comments are going to be more likely to show up in your news feed. None of that has changed. What has changed is that FB is giving businesses the option of increasing their exposure - you can pay to have more people see your feed. Basically, you can pay to reach out to the people that apparently don't interact with you much. So they didn't take anything away, they're giving you the option to pay for additional marketing.

What is a business owner to do? Encourage interaction. Post frequently, encourage your users to comment on your posts by asking questions, prompting discussion, etc. The more you have your fans interacting with your content, the more you'll be seen. If you're running a special, encourage your fans to share the post on their news feeds, etc.

Anyway, to answer Shutter Buddies' original question - I'm just a hobbiest, so no facebook business page for me. My husband would certainly love for me to actually make some money from this hobby of mine, but that's just not in the cards for now.

My actual work is in my gallery below this post.

Enjoy.

I am on facebook but only for friends. I really don't trust the site as I was hacked from there and begging letters sent to all my e-mail contacts and my contact list wiped out. I still use the same e-mail address but with no contact list. Luckily no one believed I was stuck in London with no way to get home, so one one sent money. I really don't like facebook and rarely use it.

That is why I have been stubborn about never using the Find My Friends feature on FB. It opens the door to your E-mail contacts.
