Don't these camera's h (D-90) have some sort of feature that will show the exact GPS location of each photo taken?

How does that work?

I believe the D90 does not have GPS built in. Nikon makes a GP-1 GPS unit that plugs into the 10-pin connector (where the remote plugs in. I then sends the data to the processor. It runs about $190.

Sony does make an SLR (A55) with built-in GPS and several newer P&S model also have one. Some consider the external GPS units to be more accurate.
JOBO makes a hot-shoe mounted GPS that runs about $150. After shooting, you load your photos into a file and plug in the GPS (this also charges the unit). When you open the supplied software, a matching screen shows up and you can choose to Geotag or not on each photo.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

Do you have to pay a monthly fee to have that service?

Awesome. I didn't know that. I don't know why I would use the gps feature, but it's still cool to know cameras have it.

No. I have had the JOBO fro almost two years and have not had to pay for the receiver to collect the data.

If you travel around and shoot, it is really cool to be able to look at Google Earth and see where you took those shots. I have photographed well over 150 lighthouses over the years, it would be great to have had this all along. I spent 3 days traveling almost all of Prince Edward Island, Canada trying to get to as many lights as possible. Since many of them are similar in design, I have only the date/time stamp to figure out where some of them are located. Now, with GPS, it is recorded for me.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.
