What is easiest and safest way to mail large prints?

How are you mailing larger prints 13x19 and 11x17? I'm leaning towards rolling these up into tubes but want to bounce this off the forum first.

Thanks guys

Whenever I've ordered larger prints (up to poster size) they show up in a mailing tube. I don't see how you'd mail them flat, unless they were mounted/framed and very protected.

As Gary siad the tubes are the best way to go for unmounted. But I would put some of that soft tissue paper you can get at craft stores over the printed side before you roll it up. Otherwise the print could get scratched from the back of the photo paper. I have had that happen before. For mounted prints you could get or use pieces of cardboard box. As always you want to label the package as do not fold photos inside.

My prints always come in tubes, so that's what I would do

Same here. the one time I sent a painting across country, it cost a small fortune.
Express mail tubes (triangular shape) are available from USPS in 25 and 37 inch lengths free. Just pay shipping. Have used these and they work great.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

I'm not quite good enough to sell a lot of large prints...but the few times I have, I've had them printed and drop-shipped by Mpix or Bay Photo so I wouldn't have to worry about the mailing tubes myself.
