Real Estate Photography

I just got a call from a realtor in my town who was referred by one of my clients. The Realtor wants me to take photos of a few showcase homes he is trying to sell. I'm not clear if I want to take the work (will this brand me wrong way), and if I do take the job how should I price something like this?

It is unlikely that there will be any branding on the photos you take. If you wish to promote that type of business be sure that your agreement with the realtor (and their client) gives you release to do so.

Unlikely any crosstalk is going to be a problem.

Price depends upon how long it takes you. If you can walk in, setup lights and grab the images, with very little PP work, then price by the hour. But I think the going rate is probably $125 per house, at perhaps 30 minutes time? Just a stab.

Thanks for the heads up Gary. I'm only thinking about this because of my client who referred this Realtor. What I want to avoid is others thinking this is the type of photographer I am. I'm going to need to process what you have shared with me and try to figure this out. :thx:

So the solution might be to say "Thank you, but I am not this type of photographer. And so the results of my work will not have the qualitiy I stand for. Better you look for another photographer for this job."

This reaction will give you a reputation as a real Pro I think.

Tell me what gear you have, what you use most, what you thought you would need but don't, what you would Real Estate BPO . but don't have, primes vs zooms, aperture requirements, lighting, etc.
Also, how did you get into this realm (i.e. get your foot in the door), what general advice do you have, what to avoid, etc.?
Any and all info is appreciated if you don't mind sharing some trade secrets.  If you'd rather not, I understand!
