Grim in my viewfinder somewhere

10 years 3 months ago #340157 by KENT MELTON
I have noticed lately when I'm looking through my viewfinder that there are spots of grim or dirt.  I have cleaned the immediate view finder, and still the spots are noticed.  I'm lost here because there are no spots in my photos.  I guess it's not major issue, but more of an annoyance.  Any ideas where I might look and clean other than the eye piece?

BTW it's a Nikon D60

It is on the mirror, or the screen. You can try blowing it out with a bulb blower, but it ten to find that makes it worse sometimes, because it also bring up dust and dirt that has settled in the mirror box. The screen is very soft, so do not use anything to try and rub it off. Also your mirror is coated on the front surface. If you choose to blow it out then do it with the camera pointed down so the dirt falls out as you blow. Do not use compressed air from a can as it has chemicals that will make it even worse. It make take several times to get it off.

I'm going to agree with Joves on this one.  I have had debris on my mirror many times. It's funny that you talk about using a blower and finding it worse.  I can completely relate.  It's almost an act of luck to get it all removed.

Thanks everyone, I'll be messing around with my camera later on in the day.  Crossing fingers on this!  At least it's not effecting the photos!
