Video showing Photographer having his Camera lens stolen from around his neck!

Here's a wake up call, or just another video showing just how aware of your surroundings you need to be.  When I first saw this video on YouTube, I thought the title was misrepresenting because I didn't see any lens getting stolen.  But that is not the case here, these crooks are fast!  I had to watch this video a couple times to see what all was happening.  Right around :08 seconds into this, you see the photographer getting surrounded by this group of thieves.  Pay attention to the guy on the left with the baseball cap, as his friend in the black sweat shirt distracts the photographer by shoving something that looks like a clip board above the camera, the guy with the baseball cap quickly goes for the lens.  It's not till :12 seconds in to this ordeal that the photographer realizes his lens is missing and the baseball cap guy is concealing the lens under the clipboard (or magazine).  Meanwhile the rest of the group get's in the way of the photographer and one guy even acts as a decoy to fool the photographer that he has his lens as he runs away in the opposite direction of the thief with the lens!  On the left side of the screen there is a hand off of the lens, as it's quickly tucked into a messenger bag, and the unfortunate photographer is running the other direction after the wrong crook.  WOW.  These crooks have this procedure down.

That sucks, looked like a 70-200mm lens.  There goes $2000 down the drain.

This is why I always choose a carry with a high capacity magazine. Also, making every attempt to avoid human swamps.....

Why so serious?

Oh my, how many are part of that group?  Do you think the oncoming girls on the left were part of this?

Thanks for sharing this.  Seeing scumbags like this makes me more cynical about the world and many of it's people.  You really need to be aware of your surroundings like you said, but also where you are going too.

OMG, that is the first time I have seen something like that.  It's like a bunch of bee's attacking a single ant!

Probably should have pulled out his street insurance policy and showed it to them! Best is to learn how to spot those places and just stay out of them.

I would cry so hard if that happened to me.  That's horrible.
