Speaking of traveling, airport security question

10 years 2 months ago #350511 by Athena
While discussing traveling.  How come you always have to take out your laptop during airport security and your camera and tablet get to remain packed away in your bag?  I'm not suggesting they need to change this, but it seems to me if security is main concern, many cameras and certainly tablets have more computing power than many older laptops.

After just coming back from traveling, when we went through airport security, I was talking to my husband about this.  We both were lost on the reasoning behind this.

If that was the case, don't cameras and tablets have batteries?  Or are you talking about the actual size?

Wait, cameras get to stay in the bag? I've been taking it out all this time and nobody every corrected me. I thought all electronics had to be taken out. Ugghhh so much wasted effort.

its crazy with these airports  carry a smaller bag with you with only the electronics...like laptop and camera .. tripod put in suitcase..

The "put yourself back together" portion afterwards is almost worse. I'm always afraid Im going to leave something behind. Also, shoes, belts, jackets, liquids... so much stuff to frantically thrown back where it belongs after the fact.
