Advanced Amateur Cameras

What exactly do you consider an advanced amateur camera. I've read it in a few places but never found an explanation that made sense.

Probably talking about the "entry level" DSLR models (under $1000).

Cameras with all metal bodies, moderate moisture and dust sealing, built-in flas and high speed auto-focus are often marketed as Advanced Amateur Cameras. They're more heavy duty than the more inexpensive "starter" cameras and will take a little more knocking about with moderately heavy use, but they aren't intended for the high-end professional and won't hold up to the pro's daily rigorous shooting schedules. Make sense?

So that would be the ones in the $1200 - $1500 range?

Advanced amateur? Define "Advanced Amateur".

I'm an "Advanced Amateur" by strict definition and I own a Nikon D3s.
