Need your help, on the fence about something

I'm thinking about selling my Canon 7D and rather than sticking with a DSLR, I'm thinking about going to a mirrorless camera like the Fujifilm X-E2, Panasonic LUmix GX7 or the Sony A7.  Can you give me your honest opinion.  I like the smaller size of the mirrorless camera, I don't shoot much sports, so the slow autofocus won't be much of an issue.

What do you think?

Watch out for the lens selection.  And, if you like to shoot TTL flash, just stick with Canon and Nikon.

For a studio these cameras can be made to work.  But honestly, my little mirrorless camera looks silly on a serious tripod.

What sort of photography are you doing?

The best camera for you is the one that you use. If the 7D doesn't practically jump into your hands, then sure, change it out. Since "mirrorless" is just "point-n-shoot with interchangeable lenses" it comes down to lens selection, reliability, ergonomics and price.

Huh. Just like a DSLR.

The Fujis are widely complemented here, and the A77 has some fans.

Is there and option to have both?

Alan beat me to it.  Why not keep both?

:agree: with Alan, why not have both, unless you are using the $$ to buy new gear?

Yeh, both is the way to go.  I have some pretty serious DSLR cameras, but I actually use my A7 more.  Thing is I would never get rid of my DSLR cameras (not yet anyway) because there's times I want to know I can get the shot first time (most of the time).  That's where DSLR and zoom lenses come in.

For everything else I use the A7 and M mount lenses (manual focus, manual aperture... they're lenses made for the Leica M system).

That said, I'm not you.  If you think you'd be happy with just a mirrorless, then go for it.  Remember I have to have DSLR cameras for work occasionally. ;)

If I were to go for a new mirrorless system now, I'd go for a Fuji X-T1 with their 23mm and 56mm lenses.  YMMV.
