Mirrorless viewfinder is strange

Growing up around SLR and DSLR, when I look through a mirrorless viewfinder, I just don't get the same feeling and sense of confidence as I did with a DSLR.  I know the mechanics (or lack of) behind both are completely different.  But do you feel the same way?

It is different and takes some time to be comfortable with it. My first digital had an EVF years ago so I am used to it. The Minolta Dimage 7 which I still have and it still works great. The EVF experience has a lot to do with which camera you are using. The Fuji XT-1 and Olympus EM-1 viewfinders are a different animal than lower end cameras. My Oly EM-10 viewfinder is pretty good. Lag time is the biggest problem with EVFs. Good cameras have very short lag times. That makes them a lot more like an OVF. There are advantages and disadvantages. Histogram overlays and being able to adjust exposure while looking at the image are very helpful. No more shoot, then see what you got. EVFs let you see what you got, then shoot. Bought my EM-10 at the end of June and haven't picked my Nikon since. It is different, but I don't feel less confident using an EVF.
