Having trouble with indoor low angled portraits with seemless backdrop

9 years 6 months ago #408321 by Trisha.M
Here's my problem - my backdrop goes up to around 8 foot and my ceiling is at 9 foot.  When I'm photographing straight on, everything is fine and I get the benefits of the seemless backdrop.  Where things get challenging is  when I try to get the low angled shots of my subject.  I struggle with keeping the ceiling out of the shot.  I have this same problem when I'm shooting from either side too.  My husband tells me the obvious "your studio space and backdrops are too small".

How are you all dealing with low ceilings or better yet, small shooting space?

For a head shot you should be able to place a reflecting panel or screen into position.  For wider than a head shot take the funky angle shots out of the studio.  Or learn to fix the background in post.  Geometry is just not your friend here.

Tough one, I wonder if you could take that backdrop or another one and curve it up onto the ceiling some how.  Obviously that would be tricky, but its the only thought I have.

:agree:  you don't have to many options unless you move to location where you can have more vertical space for higher backdrops.
