How many hours per week are you practicing your photography?

7 years 6 months ago #500451 by Joslyn
I'm not talking about work, I'm referring to 'you and camera' time.  The busier I become, the more I start realizing how less and less time I can spend on 'me' time with my camera.  :(

Any of you experiencing the same?

I've been a photographer for years, and it's always been like that it seems. It just depends on what else is going on. I've always practiced but it never felt like that, I think you need to love what you're doing so it's a pleasure to get out and take pictures more than a chore.

Oh boy, good question.  On a good week, I might get out 1-2 hours for personal practice.

Some weeks it's more than others.  However there are plenty of weeks where I don't get to practice at all.

I do not quite understand "practice".
When working, I get enough practice.
But taking photos for my own pleasure?
Only when I feel inspired.

At least 30 hours per week as it is my formal job.

It's been some time that I was able to spend any significant time behind the camera for personal practice.  Most time, it's all work. :(

The closest to personal time, has been with my iPhone.  Which doesn't count!

When I first got started it was a night and day difference. I was able to spend literally hours each week.  These days, I'll be lucky if I can get out an hour each week that is dedicated towards 'fun' practice.
