Mirrorless for weddings?

7 years 3 months ago #513062 by Kenya See
I keep reading more and more comments from people who have switched from DSLR to mirrorless.  Especially after Fuji and Sony recent camera updates.

Have any of you considered mirrorless for your wedding businesses or what ever your photography business is?

Can I ask what sold you on mirrorless?

They're getting there, but I wouldn't swap out my D800 quite yet....

Why so serious?

Go watch some youtube videos by Jason Lanier. There are several advantages to going mirrorless. I haven't used my DSLR in 2 and a half years. Don't need to and I'm only shooting m43.

My wedding shoots were as an amateur, not a professional. So this is speculation on my part. But if I did have to make these choices, I would still want full frame (could be Sony mirrorless) for the formals and "set shots". Where I can determine the lens I need in advance.

For the more PJ shots (candids), crop mirrorless cameras are light enough that I could carry TWO cameras, which would cut down on time lost switching lenses.

Funny how some people that have never used a high end mirrorless camera knows what they are and are not capable of doing.

It's definitely worth taking into consideration - I haven't made the switch yet, but within the next couple of years I plan to. Although I don't own one at the moment, I'm of the mindset that mirrorless is capable of just as much as a DSLR, it just comes down to a matter of taste.

Aren't there a ton of pro's using the Sony A7 series of cameras in weddings.  I think so, I seem to recall reading an article outlining this.

Not only that, but completely over looking mirrorless, DSLR, or even an iPhone, are all tools.  With enough creative juice, understanding and focus.  You can accomplish anything if you have a plan.
