Stock photography copyright

Hey guys!

I've become somewhat interested in stock photography, because I've been doing a hobby photography for a while and I was interested in making some bucks out of the albums I've made over the years,

So my question is this, should I go ahead and copyright my content before I upload it and license it to shutterstock or adobe stock photos? Are there any other professional tips/stuff I should be aware about?

You have copyright already by reason of having created the images.

I think the question you're asking is, should you register your creations with the US Copyright Office?

Without official registration (#againwiththeeyerolls) you can only sue for actual damages, should you find an infringement. Which is very expensive because it's a federal issue.

So, suggest:
  1. Join copyright.org and support their agendas (all good).
  2. Register or not; stock isn't what it used to be. That said, one of my images at Getty commands a starting point of $500, so apparently money can be made. If you create usable stuff.
