What types of insurance coverages should a photographer buy?

I hate to ask a dumb question, but I don't want to make an error with this.  When it comes to insurance for your photography and photography business, what types of coverage did you get?

**Or recommend? Thank you!

Zach

How much gear do you have?  Can you share a little about your business?

You want equipment coverage, of course, should something happen: drop, theft, tidal wave. How much and the deductible are what you have to figure out based on your situation; we don't need to know that information.

Then you probably want liability, if you have anything at all to do with other people. IOW, you want it. At least $1M, perhaps $2M. Might depend upon what your line of business is, which you don't state. "Photographer" provides almost no information.

Finally, if you're working with people (portraiture, weddings, events, etc) you may need indemnification coverage.

If you join PPA you can get quite a bit of this as part of your membership, plus a legal team to help you with the last one.

:goodpost:  another good post from you Gary.  To add, most venues that you might be shooting at will require $1M + policy.

I had to go digging for this one.  But I remember last year I read an article on PT that linked over to this article and I ended up book marketing it.  It's a good read:  https://www.packagechoice.com/what-insurance-should-i-buy.jsp
