LCD screen protective film work or waste of money?

4 years 6 months ago #661364 by Howard Swanson
I'm looking at the back of my cameras and I have very faint scratches on my LCD screens.  Nothing to worry about.  But just shows they are getting touched my harder objects.  Years ago on an older iPhone, I tried one of those screen protective film and it stuck for a few days, then the corners started peeling.  It wasn't 2 weeks before I just peeled it completely off.

Do these work better for cameras or just about the same?

Noted.  You mind me asking which brand you use?

I don't mind at all, that's what a forum is for…
the problem is that I can't remember at all!

I've never used one and luckily I have never scratched an LCD in 17 years of shooting digital.

I too, use the glass ones. They are kind-of camera specific, so make certain that you order the right ones. Mine came in packs of 2, so I have a spare of each size. I bought them from Amazon

https://amazon.com/gp/product/B071ZV943X/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

but don't buy this one unless your camera is a Canon 77D. I just posted the link so you can get the manufacturer's info and technical details. Find the right one for your camera before ordering it.

The glass is amazingly flexible and easy to install, but I do have one corner (about 1/4" X 1/4") on the large screen that will not adhere completely (my camera also has a small LCD screen on the top). The glass for the smaller screen took several tries to get positioned correctly, but once in the correct position, it is working well. I have the included spare set, so I can replace either if they should fall off or fail. I was initially concerned about them reducing the touch screen control capability, but adding them actually improved the screen's sensitivity.

In almost 10 months of use neither screen glass is failing enough for me to want to replace them. At the price, these are just too good not to use.
