What are you doing about cancelled weddings due to Coronavirus?

I have a wedding that was supposed to happen in 2 weeks, and they cancelled for obvious reasons.   They are asking for retainer back, which goes against my contract.  Their position is that we didn't expect the Coronavirus and all the travel restrictions.  Many of their guest can't come in.

I can argue the same.  But what do you do in this case?

Return their money.

Why so serious?

This pandemic situation is not imputable to your clients
who are forced to reactions as you will be.

I've had a couple weddings just down grade from larger groups to just 7 for one, was 120 and 5 for the other, which was 200.  Just less money to be made from the size.  Lucky they still buy prints and albums so I can make $$ on the back end.

You hope to reschedule, or shoot a smaller wedding, or simply refund. No, none of this is your fault, but we're all suffering here. No one is happy.
