24-70mm and 85mm if you want to know my choices.

Depends where I'm going. On my last trip, I brought a 24-70 and a 100-400 (the only lenses I currently own, to be fair) because I knew there would be wildlife. If I was going to some sort of dramatic landscape, I might want a wider zoom instead. Also it depends if it's going to be a photography holiday or not. If I'm going to be doing lots of other stuff, then carrying huge lenses around can just become a pain.

If I had only two lenses, the clever purchases of Piechura would
be good because of their extended focal range.

Justin's selection does not fit that flexibility.
