Memory card won't eject from camera??

2 years 11 months ago #717170 by Foxy Girl
My friend has a Canon R5 that she just bought used.  On the lower part of memory card slot is a button that normally when pushed ejects the card.  Well nothing is happening when we press it now.

Any help on what to do would be greatly appreciated!

Possibly… refer to the troubleshooting section
of the instruction manual?

Light is free… capturing it is not!

Did the memory card swell up causing it to get stuck there?

How could a card swell up THAT much?  If it did, that card is toast.

G'day FG

A memory card is very different from a battery where heat is involved ~ and thus I do not believe that any "swelling" can possibly occur. If it is defective it might delaminate, but that is a very different matter from swelling

I suspect that after following NS's suggestions of the instruction manual - should that not offer a solution, your choices become limited. Try some eyebrow-plucking tweezers (I know it sounds funny) as they have a special shaped jaws and maybe, just maybe they will be able to get into the tight space and pull the card out from the slot

Hope this helps

In many memory card applications, the card must first be pushed in slightly before it can be pulled out. Others have a very small button next to the end of the card slot that must be pushed in to release the card. Have you tried this before trying to pull the card out?

She ended up sending the camera to Canon for them to figure this out.  She still doesn't have her camera back.
