Where are you finding your props from?  I've started on shooting for local restaurants and I need some props.  Can you help me out please?

Do you have a Michaels around you or Home Goods Store?  Not the best of quality stuff, but good for ideas.

Don't forget the local thrift stores, Habitat Stores, and church fund raising functions. I've picked up quite a few props from my local thrift stores. It may not be good for home, but if one side looks good, it might be a great prop for still photos. Be creative.

Oh, here you go:  blackvelvetstyling.com/  these peeps are in UK, so might not ship to you if in USA.  Not sure, you'll need to ask them.  But they have amazing backdrops.

I am always on the lookout for photo/video props of all kinds, but when the customer is not paying for it, or providing it, I am very careful to only pick up things that I expect to need soon. My prop storage area is quite small and already quite full, mostly of larger furniture items, like chairs, stools, etc.

Thrift stores, Antique Malls, Flea Markets, etc. is where I find most items. Lately I've been on the lookout for Military Coats and hats and decorative garments, like men's and women's hats, scarfs, Coats, Sun Glasses, etc. All get thoroughly disinfected when received, and again after each use.

I have bought most of my backdrops through Amazon. The backdrops by Kate are very impressive, reasonably priced, and made very well of a Dacron material that doesn't hold wrinkles. The face side is very smooth and soft with many colors and styles available. I have a duffle bag with 5 or 6 of their 5' X 7' size in different styles and colors in my field kit to choose from. I always take a quart of distilled water and a hand steamer with me, but rarely use it. By the time I am fully set up, the backdrop usually doesn't need any steaming and is ready to use. My stand will hold 8 X 10' backdrops, but adjusts to hold this smaller size well. I use the side clips to hold the backdrop tight and smooth, even outdoors in very mild wind. The 5 lb pop-up awning weights (2 on each stand) keep the stands steady. They are plastic covered with a slot to the middle, so fit around the center post on top of the cross bracing. These weights work better for me, for this purpose, than the traditional sand bags.
