Printing photo on metal heart?

11 months 2 weeks ago #752145 by Adam S
Our anniversary is coming up and I'd like to give a special give to my wife of a photo of us during our first date.  Now I want to this printed on metal and would like to have the metal in the shape  of a heart.  Would you happen to know who prints on custom shapes like this?

:thx:

I'm not certain if this would work, so I hope someone comes up with a better way, but something that you might try to do yourself -

The Iron-on transfers used for placing images on T-Shirts might work if the size is smaller than 8 1/2 X 11". This transfer material is available where photo and printing supplies are sold. You size and print the photo using a dye-sub printer onto this sheet and then iron it (heat  transfer) it onto the T-Shirt, or in this case, metal heart. Find some way like taping one edge of the transfer material to the metal, (so you can peel it apart, but then replace it without loosing the alignment). You may need to re-heat any area that doesn't completely transfer.

You will likely need to buy a box of 10 or more of these transfer sheets, so you can practice if you have additional metal. You may also want to trim around the image before doing the heat transfer.

Again, I don't know how well this will work on metal, but it's something to try.

Why not print what you want on metal like you would normally and just cut out in shape of a heart with a Dremel tool?

I doubt you will have much success feeding a piece of metal through your photo printer with any success, and breaking your printer will likely be the result. This is why I suggested the image transfer material.

You could also get a metal photo print of a meaningful quote to you and your wife. Or, you could get a metal photo print of a piece of art you both enjoy.

No matter what photo you choose, I'm sure your wife will love the thoughtfulness and sentimentality of a metal photo print.

Did you reach out to some print shops that actually print on metal?
