Bird photographers preferred zoom lens?

I'm looking to expand my photography and been wanting to get more into bird and wildlife.  You mind me asking asking what is your most used focal length?

I've used everything from 21mm for ostrich closeups to 1200mm for chipmunks at a bit of distance. I've used both DX and FX formats, which also is a factor when selecting a focal length. As for your title question, I don't use zooms for bird photography, so cannot offer anything there for you to copy.

Thanks Razky, quick question... 21mm?  if you aren't using zooms, do you mean 20mm prime?

It's a 21 f/4.0 Super Angulon-R, which I remounted for Nikon F. Schneider made it to Leica specifications, including Leica lens coatings, about 1969, but it's still a fine lens even by today's standards.
By the way, I recommend you try this:  www.photopills.com/calculators/dof-macro
Enter your camera, any lens focal length and distance you wish, and see the subject size covered. That will help you see what focal length to choose depending upon the subject size and distance. Wildlife photography can be exciting - good luck!
