One of the better photogrphy books i have read is EXPRESSIVE PHOTOGRPAHY by Lou Jacobs, Jr. one of the first questions he asks is "WHAT MAKES A PICTURE DISTINGUISHED?"

What do you think?

A tuxedo and bow tie?

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

When I not wearing my Carharts and boots when Im shooting it? I havent the faintest idea what the guy is talking about really. Sounds like self-absorbance to me.

A fancy gold frame might help. :woohoo:

A photo becomes important to me when it does any of the following... Tells a story, has drama in the form or in the color, captures a rare moment in a rare way. Opinions may vary.

I don't understand what the author is asking.
Maybe you should ask the author himself.

My thoughts exactly.

I take the question to mean what makes it distinguishable in that it stands out as something special from all the hundreds of thousands of other images out there. My answer to that is fairly simple. Do I want to keep coming back to look at it over and over again?

If you can make someone say "wow" when they see your photo then I guess you've achieved "distinguished". Lou's use of semantics may not be so "distinguished" lol. I think a better word can be used when describing an exceptional photograph.
