D90 is only shooting video for 10 seconds?

13 years 3 months ago #35816 by Mike Ayrouth
I was trying to make a video this weekend and my D90 would only shoot, give or take around 10 seconds of video? A couple times it wouldn't even start at all. I'm not sure what I can do here, I have checked my manual and didn't see this. From what I can see there isn't much adjustments to video settings to be made? I know you are able to shoot near 5 minutes with this camera.

Any way, any help would be appreciated.

What card do you have in the camera? Your card writing speed might be too slow.

Would that make a difference? When I get home I will check, I'm pretty sure it's a 8GB Sandisk

Maybe your write speed on the card isn't fast enough.

This page shows the difference in write speeds for a D90.

Big diff between 2.8 and 18.5 MB per sec in jpeg and 2.9 and 20.9 in RAW.

Speed = money. How fast do you want to go.

Also, here is a thread about the issue.

How much space will one 5 minute video shoot by a D90 take up on a memory card?

5mins isn't all that long, but it can take up alot of space.

I think it must have been my card. I bought a new 16GB card and it works just fine now. Hmmm go figure!

Good news. Either a Friday afternoon or Monday morning production run. :toocrazy:
