Cropping?

If in photoshop i cropped pic into a square to get rid of wasted space, then is the finished print results going to be a square, or do the processing labs 'stretch; it back to a say 4x6?

If the lab does it right, they will print it so that the the side of the square matches the short side of the rectangular paper and the rest will be white

4x6, 5x7, and 8x10 are all different ratios and will need to be cropped accordingly.

So either you get cropped or you will get a white border.

Sometimes it's best not to crop, as you will be losing some of that extra space anyways.

Don't crop and buy/make a square mat.
A lot of labs, unless you give them specific instructions will re-crop it to fill the paper - not good.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

Thanks. I guess it's best not to crop.

Why not? You just need to have an idea what to crop to. Just to crop to reduce file size is madness. Learn to use the crop tool......
