200 ISO?

I generally see everyone using either ISO 100 or ISO 400, but never ISO 200...why is this?

I used to use film speed 200 color when I shot 35mm all the time; Kodak Gold 200 was my snapshot film of choice.

I think it's just a just personal preference.

I shoot whatever ISO I need at the time. I mainly shoot around 400, but now with the D7000, there are so many more ISOs to play with.

200 is just the base ISO

Some cameras have base ISO 100.

Everything else is emulation.

Nikon used 200 base ISO so they could get higher ISO's cleaner.

Really? I use it all the time shooting hand-held.

I use 200 when it warrants it. As for in the film days 100 was a happy medium for sunny days and overcast, also rmember there were much slower films as well, that were really only good for the studio and sun, well they were great for shooting waterfalls as well. I used either 100 or 400 alot. 400 was really about as grainy/noisy that I wanted to go. Which now is why when I hear people complain about noise at 800+ now it cracks me up. Also it tells me they never really shot high speed film in their lives.
