You know that plate that you screw onto the camera and it attaches to the head. Well, somehow I lost mine. Can I buy only that piece? and where can I buy it?

I think you have to buy a whole new head.

Go on ebay and check. Just search on the head model and add plate. Next you can try the manufacturers site or some of their distributors. Have you checked the bottom of the camera? Last time I lost my glasses I found them on top of my head...

The thingy is widely known as a quick-release plate. Depending on the model and brand of tripod you have, there could be a replacement plate available. Just check with the manufacturer. I know for sure that Quanteray, Sunpak, and certain Manfrotto models have individual plates available to buy.
