Can't think of the terminology?

What's it called when there are two people on the screen and one is in focus while the other is soft focus or out of focus entirely. I know there's a technical term for it but I just can't think of it. It's something you see all the time on TV.

Stealthy Nina called it. I believe what you're referring to is called Selective Focus. You'll see it quite often in nature photography, too.

Thanks. I keep wanting to use Focus instead of Field. I just makes so much sense when you think about it. :toocrazy:
