How much do you have to change on a photo?

I was told that if a person changes five things on a photograph and publishes the image, it's not plagerism. Does anyone know if this is true? Can I make a montage of a selection of various photographer's work, change 5 key elements of each work and call if my own creation?

No! Technically if you change a persons photos to publish it, then you would most likely get sued for Copywrite infringement. Remember you do not have to register a photo or sets of them with the Copywrite office because the momment you snap the shutter it is your creation. Besides copying peoples photos is not plagiarism. Plagairism is using peoples literary ideas or writings as your own, wether spoken as a quote or written and not giving them credit. Now you could say take elements from others photos and add them to other photos to make your own art work but, in reality it isnt ethical in my opinion, unless you get permission from the photographer.
