Fine Art Photographer?

I just finished adding my thoughts to a post about "pretty pictures" which got me to thinking more along those lines.

What's your definition of a "Fine Art Photographer?"

Let me sidetrack the question with another, "What is fine art"? From that we can form opinions of FAP.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

In my community they have a fine arts club. It includes everything under the sun like ceramics, oil painting, lace, stone polishing, cut glass and even some photos. As you can tell I have no clue what fine art might be but if you are in the fine arts club then whatever you do is that.

It must be like pornography... "I can't define it but I know it when I see it."

I think fine art is in the eye of the beholder. The photographer may think they are a fine art photographer....other people may not think that.

Is Picasso fine art? (some of it) or is Warhol fine art? If some of those works had been done by someone who had not been "blessed" by the "Arts Community", you wouldn't hang some of it on your refrigerator. I wonder if Picasso's mother put some of his "odder" stuff on her refrigerator? Hmmmmm! :toocrazy:
