Can a professional photographer produce a snapshot? I'm talking about, after having all that knowledge, experience etc.. do pro photographers still take snap shots?

I am sure they do, it's just they are smart enough to not post them for the world to see. :cheer:

I'll bet they do. And some of those "snap shots" have become icons. Read the Dewitt Jones articles on his iphone photos. Many are certainly not planned but taken as the situation arises.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

Define snapshot... then define Pro...

Some people define the one by including the other. For example, A snapshot is any photo taken in a non professional way... Or, A pro will always plan a shot out and never simple raise the camera and snap a shot off.

Both of these definitions seems limiting to me. I say a pro can take a snapshot just as an amateur can capture a HQ image.

I agree, although I wouldn't consider myself as a pro yet, but if I'm out with friends drinking and the such I know for a fact that my photographs are snapshots. Yet since I always have some sort of camera I'm duty photographer. I certainly wouldn't be dragging out remote flashes to take a shot of my mates in the pub! Those shots are posted to my Facebook profile for my friends to see whilst my 'photography' is posted to my company page!

I would consider myself a pro and there are times where some of my shots looks like a snapshot.

I am a Pro and I confess to taking snapshots, especially on holiday when I dont even look at backgrounds or composition whilst looking through the view finder, sometimes they turn out good sometime they dont and most importantly does it matter !!!
