Anyway, usually LED panels are used for video. They've created a bit of a lighting revolution in the realm of video as they make soft, controllable light (brightness and colour temperature can be dialed in) and they run cold (unlike the old video lights that would burn paper if you got it in contact with it).
The disadvantage comes if you actually want to create shadows. Then you can move it away from the subject, but this makes the light less effective as it's throw can be limited.
As for LED vs Flash. You can certainly use both, after all, light is light. Flashes will probably be more powerful and give a more hard light.
