Are you being paid to say that? :)

Only in the kind words from Alex. (I do have a PT Messenger Bag and am working on getting it to hold two bodies plus lenses.) But I do mean it. This has become my "base site" with others used only when I can't find an answer here. Plus, this is where I find Crystal. ;)

awww How sweet. I feel so loved. :)
I'm jealous that I didn't get a messenger bag. I guess Alex doesn't like me enough for me to try one out. :(

You and me both Crystal, but you never know Alex may find some use for us both one day (not)

I already have use on this forum. I am here to entertain you, John and somone else in PM land.

I've used the search for articles too. But a search usually results in a lot of irrelevant hits. In my view a list of titles by category would be much better. Arguably the simplest method is a "cloud" of common search tags. Which is better than nuthin.

I'd throw my name in the ring for a mod position....I mod a couple of Flickr groups as it is now...The mod positions, are they forum specific Alex ?

Guys:

Still working on a good solution. I'll post here when it's in place.

Some of the articles are great. However, I offer a word of caution about using these articles as your sole source of info. The HDR article seemed to be written by someone who didn't really understand or feel favorably inclined towards HDR. There's more to shooting in high dynamic range situations than just controlling the light or using a half gradient ND filter. I use the PhotographyTalk articles as one source for info. There are a lot of other sources that I read (both their magazines and websites) including Outdoor Photographer, Shutterbug, Popular Photographer, several great British digital photography magazines and individual photographer websites (like Trey Ratcliff, Rick Sammon, Rob Sheppard, etc.). Then, after reading these multiple sources with different perspectives and opinions, I draw my own conclusions.

Agreed. Much of what you find online are articles written by amateurs (who think they are pros) or "crumbs". I am guilty myself of putting a few crumbs out there, but I'm quite sure they will have value to some readers.

In this age of information, the key is to be able to filter what you read. Even in TV news, there are many opinions and very few facts.

Tread lightly, and check for yourself before taking anything you read as gospel.

Matthew :)

One more word of warning is, the web has created a new batch of photo "experts". Many who came to photography through Photoshop. They get praised by those who are just starting out. Even those with good "reps" aren't always the best source for accurate (or useful) information.

If your concern is how to "fix" an image using Layers, then you missed the part of how to take a good photo in the first place.

Regarding articles, both here and elsewhere.
