Mat or Gloss for portraits?

I have a couple portraits that I'm sending off and noticed some other questions here some what relating, so may be you can give me your thoughts. On portraits do you think with a frame (going with brushed aluminum) would look better with a mat finish or gloss?

I would have thought it would depend on who is going to own the images and have them on there walls, personally I always offer gloss and suggest matte as an alternative to the client.

If the finish is gloss, you will need to mat the photos. Do NOT place glossy photos directly against a piece of glass. The matte finish will soften the image a bit due to absorption and usually can stand being next to glass.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

I think a mat finish would give it a more artistic feel to it considering the frame choice you are going with.

I use Satin for most of my photos. It is kind of between glossy and Matte.
