How often do you use your tripod?

I was just wondering how often all of you use your tripods because i was wanting to purchase a tripod for around $200 but i'm not sure if I will be using it enough to justify spending that type of cash on something if it's only a once in a while thing. So what type of situations do you find yourself using a tripod besides long exposures?

I don't even have a tripod, to say how often I use it. Right now, with only having one lens, I have no use for a tripod.

Depends on what you're shooting...
If you into nights, then tripod will be your very good friend. If into portraits, you can get away with handheld. It really depends on your preference and situation you are in.

About 10%-20% of the time, more when using a 300mm lens and of course, in low-light, longer shutter shots. During a recent survey of major photographers, a magazine (I think OP) asked each about their most important "must have" supplemental equipment. One stated tripos but ALMOST EVERY ONE mention tripod at the end of their statement.

I use it for macro shots because you have to be very steady when shooting close up. Night time, waterfalls, landscape, I don't use it as much as I should but you really need to have one, It does slow you down to make you think about what you are shooting and for sharpness. Also when you have to shoot at a little bit slower shutter so you don't have to raise your ISO.

The only thing i shoot is landscapes and i use it 100% of the time. No ifs, ands, or buts (especialy butts :silly: )
If you want perfection down to the last detail when creating a composition, and if you want to eliminate any chance of getting a blurry shot, you use a tripod.

As much as I possibly can, if you like sharp images its the way to go.

It is what it is.

i don't use my tripod much, but I use my mono pod a lot. I use the tripod basically just during portrait shoots.. weddings I go hand held, extreme sports, almost always hand held, nature/scenery I always use the tripod..

I use mine about half the time, and its only a $30 one from Walmart does the job.

Not nearly as much as I should. I have thousands of exposures with a 500mm lens that were fuzzy in spite of my steady hand and fast shutter speed. Tripods rock!

Only when I want a sharp image. Let's see, what fraction of the time would that be...???

All the time, I use it to beat off the people chasing me down for trespassing onto their property to get the shot.

I use a tripod for all of my landscape and portrait work and a monopod for all of my sports work so i use some form of camera support 95% of the time.
