Ever just not feel like shooting?

:( There is a massive storm rolling in but it's still light out and well the lightening is super hard to get right now. Can't just leave the shutter open it would all be burned out. So I am bummed and kinda feel like just letting this storm roll right on by and simply enjoy it for the show not the subject matter it presents. Anyone else ever feel that way?

Well, where you live there will be another storm. They are pretty rare here. I often look at a sunset or sunrise and wish I was somewhere to take a photo, but then I'm just not in the right place or right time and figure I will just watch it and hope one of these days I will be there with my camera.

You're getting what came thru here earlier, altho it went N and S of me for the most part. DIdn't get any interesting lightning, just... clouds. But sometimes when I'm taking pictures things seem to click and other times not so much.

Was getting some nice golden light and got out my trusty Konica (which I haven't had out for awhile and is a tank compared to my digital) but wasn't really getting anything; then as often happens after moving around a bit I turned and went - oh! and got a shot I wanted Of course by then the light was fading so who knows how it will turn out...

I remember one time following a rainstorm for a bit and the sky kept changing and I kept taking pictures of rainbows etc. It was fun, but more of a one-time thing than a regular happening. Got some cool pictures, but that kind of thing doesn't seem to happen often.

Another time things will fall into place for you and you'll get the pictures, you seem to have the talent and persistence.

In a funk right now and looking for some inspiration- a buddy sent me a text about shooting some cityscapes this week but can't say I'm fully into it right now. Maybe that will change when I get behind the viewfinder ???

Sometimes getting started is the hardest part, if I can figuratively kick myself in the butt and get going, then I'll get into it. Maybe the old instincts kick in once you get going on it.

:agree: Sometimes getting started is the hardest part. Once I get going I do well, but finding the motivation to start my motor takes some time.

I don't shoot unless I need too. Photography is boring.

So is video.

Everybody gets in slumps, it's best to just get out there, and see what you get.

The problem is most people think if they can't get the image they want, they'll just be mad or not happy with bad results on a failed shooting. You have to remember, that being out there shooting, is fun.

Yes, packing up to move leaves me pretty tired. Those are the times that I need to just scew on one lens (lately it's been the 85mm f2) and get out there and shoot something .....sometimes just to unwind, and breathe in and out for a while.

When the slump comes around, Its usually because I'm a little overwhelmed. That's one of the best times for me to shoot with a prime lens....it narrows thing down a lot and simplifies things for me. :)

It is what it is.
