I think you are right about mirrorless cameras,

November 3rd looks like Canon's next BIG one.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

They have been talking about the D4 coming for long time

Probably won't be a D4, no rumours have been pointing to a D4/D800/D400 or anything.

Yeh people have been talking about a D4 for a long time, but it just doesn't seem likely right now. The mirrorless cam has been semi-leaked already, so it's the most likely.

They say it will have a x2.6 crop sensor which makes it pretty much destined to failure seeing as even MFT (micro 4/3) cams have a x2 crop sensor and the Sony NEX series has a 1.6 crop sensor I believe.

The rumor is also that it will be 10MP. Which is great for a crop camera actually, about the sweet-spot for noise on a small sensor like that, BUT people who are the target of such cameras mainly look at MP to gage how good a camera is. They'll see 10MP and think "Heck my cheap point and shoot has 14MP".

Tsk, they could have made it awesome. Basically reintroduce the Nikon rangefinder system with a APS-C sensor (x1.5 crop) and old fashioned "retro" styling. IF they did that it'd sell like crazy.

Like a point-and-shoot. You compose with either the LCD or an electronic viewfinder. No optical viewfinder (such as a DSLR has). The difference from a P&S is the larger sensor (unless it's Pentax!) and interchangeable lenses.
