Ideas for improving the site?

13 years 3 months ago #16790 by Solstar
Hey gang just a thread to see if we can get some ideas for future improvements/changes for the site. I'm not trying to make this a criticism thread and we all have to understand that changes aren't necessarily easy, instantaneous or cheap.
I for one kind of miss the random photo function. With all the new members we are adding tons of new pictures that lots of us aren't seeing. It also meant that some older albums got seen.
Gallery ranking...now I really can't complain because I have had my pics up there, but it seems like we aren't getting a lot of movement in the top pics even though we have added tons of new great photos. It seems my personal observation that most of us are loathe to "rank" and will only do so with a 5. Maybe a "like" button instead of or in addition to the ranking system?
Just some musings, I would be interested in hearing from the rest of you as well Alex.
Cheers, Solson

I have suggested a Forum Group for "how to" for Photographytalk for things like, how to insert photos instead of attaching.
I also suggested a "delete" or "hide" for posts made in error (or duplicates).
Got a quick and positive response from Alex.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

Been working on the No Response list a bit (where I had a clue) but most are months old. Hopefully, the original poster will still be here.

Good topic Solstar.

I would like to be able to see gallery names above the main gallery image when looking at peoples profiles. I know if you drag your cursor over the image you will get the name of the gallery but it's just easier when browsing around. Some people have multi galleries and galleries of specific subjects.

Maybe also a separate forum category for film, or even the ability to tag your your photos as film or digital when you upload, and they would show up in a separate "uploaded photos column" in the "recent community activity" area. "film uploads" and "digital uploads". just a thought.

I know from talking to Alex that he's working hard on improving this page and updates are on the way. Keep up the good work Alex!

Good thread idea, I would like to see ability for signature and would be nice to see under the users avatar where they are from.

Signature...Be able to put your name and if wanted any a link to your site or facebook page under the post you made.

Instead of writing your name below the post every time you post something. When you fill out the signature form, it will automatically be below your post.

I agree with signatures.

Other things.

1. Allowing to view more than the 5-6 posts per page on a thread, some other forums I've been on allow 50. It makes it easier to collect your ideas based on the information givin in the read.

2. More user titles. Platinum member is fun, but it adds more character.

3. At the main index, show at the bottom what members are currently on.

4. Give me lots of money.

That's what I got for now.

signatures yes, and ime sure it aint possible but a way of keeping insulting remarks from even getting near a post.

definitely having a separate column for recent photo uploads and a separate column for forum posts and responses.
