Kenko Extension tubes

While using these with a 105mm macro lens, I was wondering will I still have auto focus and use of the camera's normal metering features? Or would I need to spend triple and get the Nikon version of these?

The set I looked at indicated "Retains AF function when effective aperture stays at f/5.6 or brighter ".

The lens will work the same, just your DOF will be reduced dramatically.

So with a 105mm lens how much closer can you get to your subject with these Kenko extension tubes?

Metering won't be affected, but why would you be concerned about AF?...Macro is best done by focusing manually. Nikon even states in their literature that AF & VR become ineffective as you get closer to life size images. The lens would likely hunt excessively & you would be lucky if it focused on what you wanted.. Add to the mix that with the tubes, you will also lose infinity focus, so the AF question becomes even more questionable...

These are with Zeikos tubes but the effect is the same ( Zeikos are 13.21 and 31). These were taken with my 50mm. I noted the "combos on the shots. (The 11 should read 13) This was the first day I had them and was asking the same question.
Hope it helps.
