3 Ideas for What to Do With Your Old Photos

If you have a bunch of old, faded photos lying around your house, then you’re not alone. It seems like everytime I do a deep spring cleaning I’m running into more and more dusty, faded photos. And don’t even get me started on cleaning out my dad’s place.
Of course, it’s really frustrating for me as a photographer when I see people not taking care of their old photographs, especially when there are better ways to take care of them that don’t take nearly as much time as you might assume.
If you have a little more time than usual right now, before the pandemic ends, then it’s the perfect time to do a little research on photo restoration techniques and figure out what to do with your faded photos.

It is also really easy to restore photos through PhotoRepairPro…
All you have to do is visit their website and scan your old faded photos. You then upload your scanned photos to their website and choose which products you would like. For instance, you can restore faded photos to black and white, sepia, or color. You can also leave special instructions or reference photos to help the photo restoration professionals do exactly what you’re looking for.
Every photo that you give them gets a flat rate. In return, you get a digitized version of your photo, along with a proof of it, plus two 5 x 7 prints of it. While there are a ton of photo restoration online businesses available for you to choose from, PhotoRepairPro offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee which is paired with warehouse pricing. Essentially, you won’t find a better deal anywhere else.
Get Rid of Bad Photos

If you have a lot of old photos lying around, have you ever stopped to wonder which of them are actually worth keeping?
I come from a family of semi-hoarders. Growing up, my parents took tons of photos of me and they kept every single one of them for decades. I had to practically beg them to get rid of even the worst photos of me and I don’t want your children to end up with the same fate.
While it may seem sort of morbid to think about, you don’t want to hoard all of the photos you’ve ever taken in your life in the hopes that they will someday mean as much to your children or grandchildren as they do to you now. Instead, you need to sit down and have a serious conversation with yourself about which photos are worth keeping.
This could look different to you than to everyone else. Perhaps you know that you have a lot of duplicate photos you wouldn’t mind getting rid of. That’s great. Perhaps you know that you had a period of time in your life that you don’t really feel like remembering anymore. Get rid of those photos as well.
While you are purging old photos, just keep in mind that whatever you do decide to keep will tell the story of your family for generations to come. Make sure they’re all worth it.
Backup Your Photos

Finally, you need to backup all of your old photos online. It’s 2021. While print photos are wonderful to have, they also don’t last as long as a digitized version will.
And backing up your photos online is definitely not as hard of a task as it used to be. While a scanner is still the easiest way to save your photos, you can use your phone to scan old photos. For instance, you can use the GoogleScan app to do so. This app will upload all of your photos to Google Photos so that you always know where to find them.
Of course, if you have hundreds or thousands of photos that you need to digitize, then it may make more sense for you to find a professional.
