A new patent from Ford shows retractable tailpipes that could make off-roading easier.
But how?
By retracting the tailpipe, the departure angle is improved, and since many vehicles have a worse departure angle than approach angle, being able to pull in the tailpipe could legitimately improve off-roading capabilities.
