Very Nice !! :judge:

You will not be judged as a photographer by the pictures you take, but by the pictures you show.

I really like the gold treatment. How did you process this?

Thanks Scotty! I feel like I'm starting to get somewhere with Lightroom 4.

Since buying Lightroom 4, I started shooting in Adobe color. I processed the shot in lightroom 4 and got to that point where I thought to myself, "It just needs a little something..." That's when I decided to try some Topaz Adjust 5 presets. I tend to like warmth in my shots so I always try out the "warm tone I" and "warm tone II", I think that I landed on the "Brilliant Warm" and then used that as a springboard and started tweeking from there.

I don't know, I liked some of your earlier photos better, some of these lately like this one just don't look as real. Of course maybe you're experimenting with something new, but I don't know that this type processing works as well for a scene that's naturally beautiful. You do wonderful compositions and have an eye for that. The editing/processing to me might be more interesting with different subjects but this doesn't seem to have as much of the look that makes me feel like I'm there enjoying your view.

Thank you for your honest opinion Sharon, we don't always get that nowadays.

First of all I would agree to disagree with you on this particular shot, I don't personally think that the tones are uninviting. As I said in a previous comment, I tend to prefer warmer light in my shots. I will share with you a little secret though, I got the idea from shooting Fuji Velvia 50 and a borrowed Singh-Ray gold and blue polarizer and since the shot above is well within the 4 stop dynamic range of the Velvia 50, I believe that I could easily have recreated the shot with film and a little work in the darkroom. :)

I wouldn't say it's uninviting, I think it might be more that there are a couple of different effects in use, the presumably long exposure giving the water that flowing effect, and the gold tone. It could be because of the moss on the rocks that what it makes me think of is gold dust being sprinkled on, maybe together it tends to seem a little artificial.

I don't always understand all the processing done with photos in general, to me it seems to get overworked or maybe sometimes there are too many different things going on so I feel like I'm often noticing that as much as anything looking at a photo.

I wouldn't know about color darkroom work! LOL - I know people tone B&W photos but I haven't done that other than in a class/workshop. I have experimented some with hand tinting a B&W print I did in the darkroom using a vintage Velox 'watercolor' kit; for being old enough to have the EKC label it blends beautifully, but a little goes a long way. A really long way.

I like the processing in the first one, insofar as the location doesn't seem as green and lush as others I've seen of this type. It works for me.

What doesn't work for me is that little half waterfall at the top. It is distracting to my eye. The rest of the composition is quite nice.
