Cropped or Uncropped

These were sequential on the memory card taken fractions of a second apart. Which do you prefer, the more tightly cropped or the uncroped version?  I tend to like the un cropped version but I also tend to like to show more of the environment in my wildlife photography.  I like to show a sense of where the animal lives in hopes of encouraging people to want to protect and preserve such places.

What's your preference?  The more tightly cropped photo or the one more open?  (Nikon Shooter, I hope the paragraph break between photos worked this time... :). )

The very high key greens and the greater proximity
make me choose the cropped version.

Yes, Jeff, the separation is more pleasing! ;P

Light is free… capturing it is not!

On this shot, I tend to agree with you.  The cropped one is the one I shared on my Instagram account.  Overcast days and early spring leaves does make for a bit of green overload.  I tried to white balance change and mess with green saturation but at the end of the day, these photos are really what the scene looked like.

Based on your feedback I did back the greens off a bit in saturation and luminescence.

Thank you for the feedback.

Jeff
